One hundred & two years ago
Sunday, August 9th, 2009This undivided back RPPC was sent to Mrs. Orin Wheaton of Galesburg, Kalamazoo County, Michigan. It was postmarked 15 Apr 1907 in Montana and 18 Apr 1907 in Galesburg, Mich.
The front reads (if I’m reading it right):
April 12, 1907 Dear Sister I will send you a picture of the Depot at Belfry you better come and see my new home direct to Bridger Carbon Co Montana Laura (Louisa?)
Belfry Centennial Pioneer Day
Saturday, August 20th, 2005This is Lydia Hergenrider. She didn’t have a photo in the Gazette article. But she does here. Aunt Lydia is 93 years young and always smiling - or laughing.
Parade Announcers - Dale and Elmer Webb.
Here’s Melvin Brown. He hates photos, so please don’t tell him.
Closeup of one of the many cars Gene Sticka entered in the parade.
Lovely Naomi in Grandpa Earl’s MG.

Harold Peterson came up from Bridger to show off one of his tractors. Harold’s hobby is restoring 2 cylinder tractors.
Burl Hodges and his team of Welshes.
Doug Spaulding is staying cool in the shade. He’s still serving up the barbecue. There’s a dance tonight, so if you’re in the neighborhood - c’mon up!
Too much fun
Sunday, August 22nd, 2004Well, Pioneer Day was fun. Enjoyed the parade and the auction. I didn’t take any photos, but I’ll try to find a few. Looks like they raised a bit of money for the community, and that’s always good. I went home to kidnap Mr. Karbon Kounty. So we went to the street dance. It was a great opportunity to “visit” with friends and neighbors. Met up with an old friend, Jack from Lynchburg - who I hadn’t seen in some time… Soon after, I gave my husband the keys.
This morning, on autopilot, I made breakfast. Scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, coffee & juice. After that we sat for a bit with the Sunday paper. The farmer went out to bale, and I moseyed back to the bed. Naah - only stayed there for a few minutes and started feeling guilty. Then I started feeling something else. Hmmm - probably shouldn’t have had that sausage, probably shouldn’t have had that orange juice.
Funny, it never crossed my mind - probably shouldn’t have drank all that bourbon…
Lunch was much better, but I’m still having a hard time looking at that carton of low acid orange juice in the fridge.
