About Moos
I was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Astoria, Queens. I’ve traveled and lived all over the United States - but except for a few visits to Canada - I’ve never been out of the states. I first came to Montana in 1980 and knew that it was home. I bounced between New York and Montana for a few years, finally returning to Montana forever in 1993.
In 1995 I married a third generation farmer/rancher from the Clark’s Fork Valley in Carbon County, Montana. Allan and I worked together well, especially considering our different backgrounds. I became the ultimate multi-tasker, acquiring job descriptions never imagined in my previous life:
Official Parts Runner; Short Order Gourmet Chef; Cow Caller; Archivist; Seamstress; Gardener; Laundress; Collector of “too many things to mention”; Photographer; Tractor Operator; Pet Wrangler; and in my spare time I research local history.
I began blogging in August 2004. It began as a fun way to record things happening here on the farm and my thoughts. The reach of the internet introduced us to quite a cast of characters. Bloggers, commenters, flickr folk and lurkers. Allan and I managed to meet many of these people in real life. Some have become good friends, who helped us more than they know.
I lost Allan in March 2006. I’m staying right here. This farm is my home.
