Every breeding animal will have to be bled before it can be moved over a county line. Not just once, either, as I understand the rules. In our pens (in Wyoming) are hundreds of heifers that have recently been AI'ed. Everyone of them was vaccinated earlier for the disease. So was the "hot" cow. Is anyone working on the vaccine? It seems like with all that is at stake, a vaccine that works would be a top priority. It will effect Karen and everyone else in Montana who owns any cattle. However, I know someone else will have to go through the financial, time, and energy loss that you had to last year. It will be interesting to see if the state takes a different tack this time, or responds in a right and timely manner. Maybe you will be visiting Helena again, as an advocate?
