Sorry folks about repeating myself above, but the first post left out an important sentence for some reason. (They say you know you're going crazy when you repeat yourself. I've known that for a long time before that.)

In 2001, after it had been pretty dry up there for a few years, it rained like crazy while I was up there visiting Pops. (It even snowed in Bozeman -- and this was in June!) The moisture was a great help, and it looked like the wheat and corn yields would be bushel crops. Until late July, when the thunderstorms rolled in.

With hail.

My good friend Terry in Albuquerque (who hails--no pun inteneded -- from Baker, and knows something about the ag way of life) called me up after news of the storms -- which wiped out more than a few farmers -- was on the Gazoo Online. We were talking about it, when I asked the provervial question: "What did those poor b*****ds do to get God so mad at them?"

It's just another reason to feel for the sons and daughters of the soil. If it isn't low prices on crops and livestock, high prices on machinery or four- and six-legged varmits, it's Mother Nature and/or The Boss. (Remember -- you're not paranoid if they really are out to get you.)
