The Band & Joni Mitchell - Coyote

The coyotes have been howling up a storm here - the four-legged variety.
My calves are bawling in harmony. They were weaned yesterday.

Mmm, love the sound of coyotes — except when my kitties are outside.

    Hey, I like your icon!

Nobody can sing like Joni! Great song & a fitting tribute to your previous blog entry!

Very cool! I listen to Joni on The Loft on XM. I wish I could get Youtube to work on my blog. Any ideas?

I can’t seem to play those Youtube things, probably because my connection is so slow. However, I laughed myself half to death over the wolf howling story and then read it to Ralph who howled himself. Great stuff!

The howling wolf story was awesome. Kinda reminds me of the people who move out here to the country and then react with shock when their little poodles and Yorkies disappear out of the back yard. Can you spell “coyote appetizer”?

The song is awesome. Although I shed my hippie status over 40 years ago, Joni is still one of my favorites. Her song with the lyrics “waitig for his car on the hill” got me through a really, really bad time. And no, his car never did come back up over the hill. Isn’t it amazing how we measure and connect experiences in our lives with music.

Patia - my dogs don’t care much for the singing.

Lin - I think so, too.

Laurie - I don’t know - I think that the dial-up folk can’t see or hear it (without interruption) - I simply followed the directions.

Three collies - I know that Allan would have loved that story, too. Think either one was named Peter?

Zanne - Ahhh - another old theme song. . . I sat waiting for my sugar to show, too. In retrospect, it was a good thing that he didn’t. It was heart wrenching at the time. . .

    Car On A Hill
    by Joni Mitchell

I’ve been sitting up waiting for my sugar to show
I’ve been listening to the sirens and the radio
He said he’d be over three hours ago
I’ve been waiting for his car on the hill
    He makes friends easy
    He’s not like me
    I watch for judgement anxiously
Now where in the city can that boy be
    Waiting for a car
    Climbing
    Climbing
    Climbing the hill

    He’s a real good talker I think he’s friend
Fast tires come screaming around the bend
    But there’s still no buzzer
    They roll on
And I’m waiting for his car on the hill
It always seems so righteous at the start
    When there’s so much laughter
    When there’s so much spark
When there’s so much sweetness in the dark
    Waiting for a car
    Climbing
    Climbing
    Climbing the hill

I was a free man in paris
    I felt unfettered and alive
Nobody was calling me up for favors
    No ones future to decide
You know Id go back there tomorrow
But for the work Ive taken on
    Stoking the star maker machinery
    Behind the popular song.
