I'm physically incapable of making a long story short - and I've been making short stories long for years.

Somebody driving like that here in Mesa, we wouldn't bat an eye (good or bad).

Sounds like Blogger (the website, not the author) is having a bad week (although the author doesn't seem to be getting very many breaks herself) -- I managed to find this only by going though your pictures on flickr. I've only been able to see the posts through August 13. (I was worried that maybe you'd got fed up with blogging, and that "Time Flies" was your swan song. As it is, only the first four posts of that particular one are on my computer -- I had to go to the comment posting page to find the others.)

Look on the bright side -- the last time I was in an accident of note, I was broadsided by a drunk pulling out of a Circle-K (this was in the early 80's, BTW). His car was damaged, but he was still able to skiddaddle away in it before the cops got there -- and the plate number I wrote down didn't match. I was barely able to get my car home. The damage came out to about $3000 (fortunately he hit the passenger door but managed to slice the back tire) so you can imagine what it would cost today. Then to add to my troubles, the rental car I was drivng while my Nova (sans A/C, by the by -- the Nova, that is) had a back window blown out by the heat (this was June in Phoenix). In case you're wondering, I escaped this incident without injury.

Is that like a universal female excuse or something? I know every time I find a new scratch on our car my wife's response is always "must've happened in a parking lot", LOL. I'm just joshing ya, I know that most people drive worse in parking lots than they do on the streets, and that's frightening. Hopefully the damage gets fixed, either by your insurance or better yet, by the perpetrator's. Unlikely however since at my last tally, you, me, and my parents are about the only people in the state that actually HAVE insurance, LOL.

I ditto Bonnie on the smoke factor as well. I have a condition that makes me have dry eyes most of the time and lately they've been swolen and sore like they're full of sand all of the time. My blushing bride has been coughing and hacking like an asbestos miner for the last couple weeks to boot. It's almost enough to make me wish for snow, but not quite.

I hope you get to feeling better soon Karen. Sorry to hear that one of my fellow Rosebud Countians was responsible.

If it weren't for bad luck, you'd have NO LUCK AT ALL!

I have a sore throat and tight chest, too. Think it is bronchitis from all the smoke in the air. Maybe I should go to the doctor, too. bonnie
