She was a champion during the time that I was travelling to Alaska every summer.

She was the talk of the town....

Terrible, terrible, I was looking at the news headlines on my Sunday morning off from farming and the first thing I read was that headline. I have always so admired Susan. For a girl from Massachusetts to go to Alaska and take up the world's most extreme sport...and then to show the boys how it's done, well that is just special.

Another good person taken from us far too soon. I could make a statement about how the leaders of our country mistrust science, but I'll refrain in doing so. (Primarily since it would require me to use my second language -- profanity.)

Damn. I don't follow sports or anything close to sports, but even I knew who Susan Butcher was, and was always impressed when I heard of her victories.

Damn.
