Actually, Paul Anka is still at it after all these years, even though he’s older than Mick Jagger (which is saying something; I just don’t know what). His latest CD is a collection of covers of grunge songs done in a Big Band style. They don’t sound too bad, but then, IMNSHO, they didn’t have anywhere to go but up. (There was a 6.0 tremor felt in Seattle recently, but it turned out it was just Kurt Cobain doing 360s in his grave.)

And Moos, be careful about slamming oldies–Major Dan doesn’t like slurs on his playlists.

Oh Bonnie - why did you do that?! I’ll be singing and/or humming that ditty all day. I, of course, know all the words.

On 8-track. (I have a stereo that plays the things still–I tried to sell it and the tapes at a rubbish–I mean rummage–sale several years ago. No takers.)

I wonder if the gentleman pictured can see from Rockvale to Mesa using the scope on that rifle?

Another scary thought: the local oldies giant here in Phoenix, KOOL-FM (which is similcast to many “oldies” stations around the country as the station is one of the 100 billion stations owned by Clear Channel Communications) is not only playing music from the 70s and 80s, but also from the early 90s!!!!!! (The exclamation points are inserted in honor of Ed Kemmick–whether he wants them or not.)

L - I think he used to hold a tire or was a muffler man in a previous life or something like that. This incarnation he’s protecting the fort.

Pandora - they didn’t know who - but said that there would be a band. Hmmm… this could prove interesting. Everybody polka!

Linn - Oh, I’m not so hard to please. As long as people are having fun & happy, so am I. Unless - they’re happy & having fun abusing me.

Kirk - Since we’re about the same age - we suffered through much of the same music. You know what bothers me? When you hear “an oldies” station on the radio - and they’re playing golden oldies from the 1980’s. To me an oldies staion should be playing do-wop music. But then, I guess, I’m an oldie.

Steve - I spent that era in NYC - and wouldn’t step foot in Studio 54. I did haunt the Other End, Max’s Kansas City, CBGBs, Folk City, the old Limelight, and other vague memories. Proving again, that I am an oldie. Was there actually a “disco scene” in Montana?

The sad thing is I had to listen to these tunes on Phoenix radio, which was then–and remains to this very day, I can assure you–on of the great oxymorons of all times.
