I'm physically incapable of making a long story short - and I've been making short stories long for years.

L., It is only a spare part if it sitting on the shelf or in the tool box, unneeded. Once the original is broken and there is no "spare" then it becomes a necessary part. Hence the frantic serch. Nothing else can happen with that machine until the part is either repaired or replaced or the machine is reengineered. Farmers and I am sure, other businesses try to stock the pieces that wear out often like the bearings for a top saver or teeth for a rake but there is no way to know what is going to break next so there is always going to be someone running for parts. When there is only the farmer and his wife, that job often falls to the wife as the farmer will go ahead with the irrigation or some other job while he waits for her to come back with the right stuff. She really hopes she gets it right the first time but that doesn't always happen, either! bonnie

More for list:

Gardener
Landscaper
Painter
Chaufer (Heck if I know how to spell that!)
Bookkeeper
Party planner
Entertainer

That is enough for tonight. You should have seen the traffic from Rockvale to Billings this afternoon. Sheeesh. bonnie

That sounds like me when I worked on the Farm. A JOAT. A Jack Of All Trades.

Although I was a master of none.
