Clark’s Fork Valley Corn Field

It was that time again - so I took the dogs out to bring the Baron a snack. I saw his tractor in one of the corn fields. I parked the pickup and we walked down the ditch bank road. Click on the photos for them to open in a larger window.

This corn looks pretty good to me. Not very tall, but we haven’t had much growing weather yet. The field looks clean, though.

Oh, there he is - what is he doing?

Wow - that looks even better. We waited for him at the top.

This is a corn cultivator.

This is the difference it makes.

Your pictures are so good. I started playing with husband’s digital camera to “try” to take pictures of my yellow warbler in her nest outside my window. Not doing a good job at all. The nest developed a hole this morning, and one nestling was trying feverishly not to fall thru the bottom of the nest, so I made the husband take a washcloth and push it back up. I then tried to mend the nest together with batting and twine. Later this afternoon, I found a nestling on the ground that must have fallen out - clearly too young to fly. Enlisted a tall neighbor to put it back in the nest. Busy day with the birds - ha, ha. Linn

Our ten year old grandaughter spent last week in camp in the Big Horns and everything was wonderful except her camera “broke.” She told us at dinner last night that she is going to spend some of her saved money and buy a digital one. Seems most of the ten year olds had them!! Sheesh. bonnie

Hi Bonnie - I guess we’re do for some real hot days here & there. Happy Birthday to your Mom! I’d imagine that your granddaughter will do fine - think of all the $ saved on developing & printing in the long run. And then you can post some pictures, too.

    Thanks, Rose!

Linn - see - you have a post there! Get some photos & write it down. It reminded me of my “rescuing” a baby robin last year. It had fallen from the nest & was big enough to hop around - but not much else. I had a ladder under the tree & the bird in an ice cream bucket. I was still too short to get him/her/it back in the nest. My husband spotted me & wondered what the heck I was trying to do, so I enlisted him. Oh, he got up to the nest, scared the other three babies & they all jumped out. After crapping all over my head. . . So I had 4 baby robins to keep the dogs & cat away from.

I have a yellow warbler, too. We have goldfinches - but after your & Cliff’s discussion - I noticed a warbler at my feeder yesterday.
