Cultivating Sugarbeets

They don’t give me much room.

We brought a snack to the Baron - who is out cultivating.

Not a great shot of the tractor - but you can see snow on the peaks.

Lucky is waiting - she knows that when he gets here - he’ll share.

Getting to the end of the rows.

Twelve row cultivator turning around.

Lucky doesn’t mind getting on the back. Which was nice of her, since she was swimming in the ditch.

Enjoying the new camera, aren’t you. You must be a lot drier than here. I am hopping to get in the field next week. After the 2 inches of rain on Friday then again on Sunday were just soaked.

Interesting trip today. Most of the row crops are a lot further along here than in Montana. Some fields were so weedy that they have been started over with a disk. Not sure what, if anything, will be planted now. Hay was going down every where. Barley is heading out here. Most of ours is irrigated again. Saw snow, even in the Pryors. Rivers are running high all the way. Traffic was heavy, especially from Rockvale on to Billings. The only significant construction we encountered was in Greybull. bonnie

Molly’s puppies have a lot more white than Lucky. Do border collies get blacker as they out grow puppy hood? The owner of the dog responsible brought a big bag or puppy chow by for them the other day. Called it child support! bonnie

I am thinking Riggs (the FREE dog) might really really like it out there. I keep saying our dog needs a job. She would be a great farm dog… and the back of the truck would be as good as my convertible i am sure.

The closest I ever get to sugar beets is the cold borscht at the S&H Deli in the East Village.

    Maybe, they are your beets!

I sure like visiting here. It reminds me of my childhood in Mid-West Michigan farm country (except for the terrain).

I couldn’t wait to get out of farm land. But after living in three major metropolitan areas and now in the rapidly sprawling suburbia of NC … I wonder just what the hell I was thinking.

Great photos, as always! Lucky is very photogenic. (I’m pretty sure the reason no-one ever wants to accept a lift in my car is because it always smells of wet dogs …)

Love the pictures… especially of Lucky next to the cooler. What a great photo that would be blown up in a 8×10 or 11×14! Liked the one with the snow capped mountains in the background too!

Which software do you use in order to upload lots of pictures into one post? I use Hello… but haven’t figured out how to upload multiple pictures into a blog entry.

    Your friend Toni in Wyoming!
