“She’d Better Be Bringing Oats”

Posted by Hello

“Or maybe some of those treats…” is what they seem to be thinking. That and, “You don’t think that she’s going to try to catch any of us, if she does, let’s head for the hills!”

**************************************************

Yesterday was an incredibly busy day. I left here at noon to head for town. I had planned to leave around nine, but the cattle had other ideas. I had a good visit and lunch with a friend in Laurel before going into Billings. I had to drop off a vacuum for repair, find Dremel accessories, pickup cattle supplies, pet supplies and groceries. It had been 21 days since I last bought groceries. That’s too long! The Taurus was packed. I managed to get home before 8 PM, and I had done almost everything on the list. Just in time to come in, make something to eat - sandwiches. Then try to put it all away. There are a few things still waiting for me in the kitchen. They’ll keep.

I just came in from the pasture. One more calf. I’m afraid that I’m more tired than inspired, so I’m going back to lay down for a while.

Yep, I’d say you nailed the horses’ thoughts. Chuckle.

love the caption with your photo :)

I bet you get much better exercise than all those prissy botoxers who pay a couple hundred dollars a session with a personal trainer :)

no shopping in 21 days…good God woman - is this the norm?

I am sure that there is enough food in this house to go 21 days without grocery shopping but I have never done it! I expect the fridge was empty?

The people like my grandparents who homesteaded in the Ridge, Ranch Creek area of eastern Montana went months without shopping but they had chickens and a cow or two to milk.

So where does one eat in Laurel? I mean the good places?

Had a pleasant trip to Billings yesterday but didn’t try to do anything but Mom’s medical appointment and lunch. It is too hard for her to try to shop. bonnie

“all the pretty horses” - i came over to post a comment to show that I am not as self-absorbed as it may appear this last 2 weeks.

Good economy - the further you spread your shopping days the less opportunity to be spendthrift and buy all those ‘unnecessary extras’ that quickly push up the cost of living. And hi to Babs! Torlla

Mr HK - Hello! And it’s only beginning, or is it ending? I don’t know - it’s all a blur…

Hi Patia! And who says horses aren’t smart? These guys consistently make a dummy of of me.

Greeting l! I thought so too, until the dr. told me that your body gets accustomed to the exercise, so you have to do more. Sheesh!

Hiya weese! There is no norm - but 21 days was probably a record - or close to it.

    Hi Bonnie!
Yeah, a freezer full of beef is a good thing - but we do need something to go with it. My fridge - well, it’s earned me the title of The Condiment Queen. Glad to hear that you had a pleasant trip with your mom. Thank goodness that we’re not still using wagons.

Hello pinhut! Self absorbed? For crying out loud man, you just got married. I’d assume that you’ve better things to do!

Hi torlla - it’s always a pleasure to hear from you. Well, I don’t think that my visit improved the economy in Billings too much that day!
